The English Grain Aphid (Sitobion avenae) is an aphid in the superfamily Aphidoidea in the order Hemiptera. It is a true bug and sucks sap from plants. Abstract. The overwintering strategies of 6 aphid pests of arable crops are discussed. Three, Sitobion avenae, Rhopalosiphum padi and Metopolophium dirhodum are important pests of cereals world‐wide.
